Corporate Sponsors Benefit the Community

Corporate sponsors help us to achieve our mission to enhance the understanding of the value and fragility of the local and global marine environment through research, education and personal experiences. They provide us with funding that benefit the educational programs of The Pier Aquarium.

These funds create new timely exhibits about our Earth environment, allow us to create a touch tank that travels to schools to teach pupils about marine animals and how to care for them and to develop innovative, award-winning study trip educational activities for teachers and their students.

The support of our sponsors helps us introduce unique “FISH-ful Saturday” programs (funded in part by the Pinellas County Commission through the Pinellas County Arts Council Cultural Development Grant Program) to give Aquarium visitors, young and old, first-hand and up-close experiences of our Tampa Bay marine environment and oceans from around the world. Community outreach activities bring ocean science to local schools and All Children's Hospital.

Annually more than 200,000 people visit The Pier Aquarium and about 29,000 participate in our award-winning education programs. More than 500 children "angle" to bring home a trophy from the Kids' Fishing Tournament. About 250 children and their parents go to the beach for Spa Beach Splash, our annual family marine discovery day.

Recent awards include:  2006 WEDU Be More Award for Innovation - The Big Fish Move book writing project, Magnet School Award of Excellence 2005 for Campbell Park Elementary's Marine Science Program and the Mayor's Top Apple Award 2005, Certificate of Appreciation from the City of St. Petersburg for our partnership with Campbell Park Elementary; Florida's Top Museums 2004, Florida Monthly; Award of Excellence in Water Conservation Education from Southwest Florida Water Management District (SWFWMD), 2003, for "It's All About Water," and Gulf Guardian for Youth Education, 2001, for "Tampa Bay Walks the Talk."
