GREEN COLLABORATIONS is a series of 6 sustainability events scheduled April 17-May 1, 2010.
There's something green about all of them. We hope to help our community learn about becoming more green and have fun in the process! We will take registrations for each event individually. Some will require a ticket purchased online or in advance of the special event.

APRIL 17: A Sustainable and Green Garden Party Our first collaboration about going green: learn about container garden. herbs, edible flowers, Florida native plants and orchids, permaculture and more.

APRIL 20: SciCafe St. Petersburg '10 A Sustainable Building: The Word is Photovoltaic FREE, 6-7:30PM at the Morean Arts Center for Clay at the Train Station, 420 22nd St. S, St. Petersburg Our conversation with Barry Flaherty, St. Pete Solar Energy, will enlighten you about this green energy source. Demonstration by Morean Ats Center for Clay ceramicists will take place from 7-7:30pm. Please RSVP here for seating.

APRIL 24: The Amazing, Mystery Urban Green Building Tour Take an "amazing" two-hour tour chauffered by Pier Aquarium President/CEO E. Howard Rutherford and Curator of Exhibits Butch Ringelspaugh to visit three "green" buildings in St. Petersburg. Commentary provided by Darren Brinkley, founder of REAL building Green Building Consultant. Darren was recently recognized by the Southwest Florida Water Management District for his contribution to water conservation in the Tampa Bay area.
You won't want to miss this amazing green tour! This tour is not recommended for children.

APRIL 28: Aqua-tecture Salon@620 Aquatecture: Architectural Adaptation to Rising Sea Levels, designer Erica Williams presents a brief of her master's thesis for an intriguing discussion about a community built on water. The conversation will be moderated by Peter Kageyama, Creative Cities Productions.

MAY 1: FISH-ful Saturday at The Pier Aquarium
Ocean Habitat Protections: One World, One Ocean Working Together to Protect Our Global Ocean Ecosystem
Randy Runnels, Ph.D., manager of Tampa Bay Aquatic Preserves and an Eckerd College adjunct faculty member, will talk about what's being done to help protect our global ocean. Local conservation efforts are being networked into regional and global initiatives. Dr. Runnels will share how a trend toward a cleaner Tampa Bay serves as an example of what can be done as far away as China.

OUR SIXTH EVENT: A Sustainable Collaboration at A "Green" House
May 1 A Sustainable Food fundraiser to benefit the education programs of The Pier Aquarium features sustainable dishes from Tampa Bay chefs, artwork by local craft artists and a tour of this "green" house, with home builder Jeffery Wolf and Jennifer Languell, Ph.D., Discovery Channel's expert of green building and sustainable development. This "green" home is considered one of the most energy-efficient, energy-producing private residences in America today.
