2010 Year of the Ocean
 
The Pier Aquarium is celebrating The Year of the Ocean (our own designation to highlight the importance of this habitat and its 66 bodies of water) and have plenty of fish to share, especially during "FISH-ful Saturday" special family programs. They are scheduled the first Saturday of the month from noon-2pm at The Pier Aquarium or the Roy G. Harrell, Jr. Education Station.

"FISH-ful Saturday" is free to children six and under and free with a paid adult, student or senior admission.

"FISH-ful Saturday" is funded in part by the Pinellas County Commission through a grant from the Pinellas County Cultural Affairs Department Cultural Development Grant Program and Visit St. Petersburg/Clearwater. Other sponsors include the Southwest Florida Water Management District, Progress Energy and the St. Petersburg Times.

Hands-on planned activities include: guest speakers, arts and crafts, storytelling, science projects or aquarium tours.

GC 6: A Sustainable Collaboration at A "Green” House
EAT DRINK SUPPORT SUSTAIN The second annual Sustainable Collaboration to benefit The Pier Aquarium, this fundraiser helps raise awareness of our ocean environment and sustainable eating.
Top chefs prepare their favorite sustainable seafood dishes, artists exhibit (and sell) their work. Go on board Endeavour Green, a 25 ft. electric hybrid boat, to experience a different trip on the water.
 
Take off your shoes and tour this special house, considered one of the most energy-efficient and energy-producing homes in America today with the homebuilder and Jennifer Languell, Ph.D., the Discovery Channel's expert on green building and sustainable development.
