Take basic marine science education. Add field trips on floating classrooms, marine-related arts and crafts, field trips to nature preserves and the seashore. Don't forget snorkeling, dolphin watching and other "FISH-ful," exploratory activities.
Now you get a picture of what happens at summer camp at The Pier Aquarium! Our Summer Marine Adventures bring excitement to Environmental and Biological Science through the non-invasive investigation of the habitats and ecosystems of Tampa Bay's
animals and plants. Sea horses, sharks and fish from all over the world are among the teachers!
Weare offering 11 three- and five-day summer camp sessions during our 2010 season starting June 9 and ending Aug. 6 and a first-time offered summer camp for deaf and hard of hearing children! We have a limited number of scholarships available to children demonstrating financial need, thanks to the generosity of our 2010 Summer Marine Adventures sponsors and partners, the Southwest Florida Water Management District, Pinellas County Cultural Affairs Department, Publix Super Markets Charities and the St. Petersburg Times Fund.
Our full-day camps are scheduled from 9am-5pm Monday-Friday. Drop-off times for campers are 8:30-9am and pick up times are 5-5:30pm. For more information about Summer Marine Adventures, please contact ssawyer@pieraquarium.org, (727) 895-7437, ext. 205. .

Do you know what brackish means? Can fish really change colors? How many fish are unique to Tampa Bay? Travel with us to Weedon Island to learn more about natural Florida and the aquatic and upland ecosystem. This three-day camp is packed with adventure and surprise!
Camp 3
June 14-18 Explore the Bay, a new and special five-day camp for children age 9-12 who are deaf or hard of hearing in partnership with Family Center on Deafness, Inc., a program of the James B. Sanderlin Family Service Center and Blossom Montessori School For the Deaf.

Join us for a unique camp experience. Each day will be filled with a new topic and adventure to learn about this amazing estuary that is Tampa Bay. There is so much to explore: from sharks, sting rays, marine mammals, aquatic plant life and fascinating marine invertebrates!

th Grade Fall 2010

Join us on a "freshâ adventure as we explore the origins of Earth's water. Painting, drawing and a trip to Crystal Springs Preserve are all on the agenda. Bring your artistic side and get ready to explore the rivers and streams of Florida.

June 28-July 2 Go with the Flow, a five-day camp for students entering 5th or 6th grade Fall 2010
Cost: $200
Did you know that everyone lives in a watershed? Do you know the difference between surface and ground water? Flow through the water with us as we learn the effects water has on human, plant and animal life. Students will visit Weedon Island Preserve and Shell Key for artistic inspiration!
Camp 6
July 5-9 Worlds of Water, a five-day camp for students entering 1st or 2nd grade Fall 2010
Cost: $200
Does marine life exist in all depths of the ocean? Why is the ocean water salty? Dive into another world as we explore the Earth's oceans. Travel with us to Mote Marine Lab, Florida Aquarium and the estuary of Tampa Bay in our back yard. Translate your newfound knowledge of the ocean through a variety of art.

Grab your life jacket and climb aboard with us as we take an adventure above water. Learn valuable lessons in boating safety and enjoy a full day of sailing lessons. Become an expert on Florida's fishing regulations and then test your knowledge!

Though sometimes mistakenly referred to as fish, dolphins, manatees and whales are actually mammals. Travel with us to the Clearwater Aquarium and a few other surprise locations for some close encounters! Discover how these mammals have learned to survive in a world without air.
