2009 Fish Head Ball: Fanta-SEA Fish Fest
The Pier Aquarium's 16th Annual Fish Head Ball held Oct. 3, 2009 was a success, thanks to the support of our very generous sponsors. With their help, we raised $43,200, a portion of which will be used to create a summer camp program in partnership with Montessori School of the Deaf in Clearwater.
Fanta-SEA Fest was Everyone’s Fantasy This year’s Fish Head Ball invited guests to "be fantastical, outrageous and ready” for a Fanta-SEA event of their choosing adapting some elements from the annual Key West bash. More than 375 answered the call.Balloons, balloons and more balloons, body painted "models” dressed in bikinis and briefs and a parade float set the tone for the party, the annual fundraiser to benefit education programs. Held at the Hilton St. Petersburg Bayfront Saturday, Oct. 3, the ball featured live and silent auctions, signature Fish Head Ball mugs signed and sold by Artist-in-Residence Kathy Taylor Zimmerman and dance music by the ever popular Surfin’ Raccoons.
Guests were invited to dress fantastically (and they did!), partake in scrumptious Surf-n-Turf food tastings, have their bodies and faces painted by Jeff Henriquez and Celeste Behret, "fish” for rubber duckies (for a mystery prize bag) and bid on sensational silent auction selections and live auction packages that included a chef’s dinner at your home, vacation weekends and a skydive adventure.
